SDSU early admission question

A lot of people I know got into SDSU last Friday. I didn’t get an email and my portal still says my decision is pending however I’ve heard of many people getting in with lower test scores and lower EIs than me.
I have:
4.13 CSU GPA
1320 SAT
4624 EI

I was wondering if it’s strange I didn’t get in compared to people I know with around 4300 EIs and D’s in classes?
I applied under political science. Could that have something to do with it? Also I am a California resident

SDSU admits by EI and major so you are compared to all political science majors. The early decisions are for some OOS applicants (SDSU wants to lock in the extra $$$) and high stat Honor’s college invitees. Since the application deadline was extended, there may be more decisions coming this week. No worries since the majority of the decisions will be in February/March. If you are interested in the Honor’s college, you can still apply without the invite.

@Gumbymom from reading the posts you seem to be the ‘go to’ for questions. It’s really nice that’s you help people during this very stressful time. How long do they usually do the early admissions? Is it rolling like over a couple of weeks or usually all in 1 day? I’m hoping they’re not done with the early admission decisions.

Do you think my daughter has a chance?
UW 4.0
W 4.45
CSU GPA said 4.44 on her CSU app but I’ve read that 4.4 is max)
SAT 1270
EI 4790 (using 4.4)
Public Health
Local San Diego

The whole college application process is so stressful. It sure would be nice to be told early.

@hermom1: The early decisions trickle out over a few weeks so most should be done by end of this month based on the last few year’s, however there are posters which may not post immediately so unless they state when their portal was updated, it is hard to tell. Then the majority of the decisions will be posted in late February through March.

Your daughter will be compared to all Public Health majors but based on her EI she is a solid Match. She can still apply to the Weber Honor’s college without an invite and if you submit by the January 15 deadline, there is a chance at the Honor’s scholarship.

@Gumbymom thanks for getting back to me. Waiting for college decisions is stressful, adding on top of just waiting for decisions waiting to see if you get enough merit aid to make one of her top choices even close to affordable makes the stress 100 times worse. I of course like SDSU as an option due to the cost and keeping her home ?. I really appreciate all the time you put into this board. Have a blessed holiday.

p.s I don’t think she even considered the honors college? Do you know what they look for? She is a 4 year class officer, several clubs with officer positions, 4 year Tri sport Varsity athlete captain on several teams and significant community outreach/volunteer work as well as employed. The Honors college may move SDSU up on her list, we were thinking you had to have a 1400++on the SAT to be considered.

@hermom1: The Honors college admission is stat-based. I have linked the information and minimum’s needed to apply. Some great opportunities for Honor’s college students along with their own housing and chance to work closely with their professors.
