Hello, I need some advice. I am a senior with a 2.9 GPA and 31 ACT. I was admitted into ASU’s business program at Tempe and was given a scholarship that would make the total cost $31,000 out of state- from New Jersey. However, if I am admitted to SDSU, my first choice, the cost would be around $37,000 out of state. My plan is to live in socal after graduation so would living in San Diego be worth the money, and which school is better for business?
I would not get your hopes up about SDSU. Although your ACT is above the average for SDSU, your GPA is way below the average of 3.72. SDSU’s business program is very competitive. SDSU is an additional $24K for 4 years than ASU with little to no FA, so expect to pay full price. Also regardless of which school you pick, you need to figure in transportation costs back home and other personal expenses. Seems like a huge amount of debt for either school. ASU is a good school and I would not worry about making a decision until you are accepted to both. After graduation, you can always work in San Diego regardless of which school you attend. Good luck
My high school is very highly regarded and looking at previous applications almost everyone at my school who applied got in. Also my guidance counselor says I am most likely getting in. I get free transpiration because I can fly for free so that isn’t an issue. Assuming I get in, would SDSU be worth the extra cost compared to ASU, in your opinion?
Can you afford the full costs of $37K/year? That is the question. No FA for OOS applicants. Both schools will give you a good education and SDSU is highly regarded for their business program. Is it worth it to you and your parents to pay this amount for your education. If money is no issue, I would pick SDSU.
SDSU has a very competitive program. Your GPA will not help. The CSU’s (public state universities) are under pressure to admit more residents, so with that GPA, your prospects don’t look good.
Costs of attending and living there are $37K per year, not including additional personal expenses.
You won’t get a dime in financial aid since most monies come directly from the university for California residents.
