Seattle University vs Boston University

I need opinions? BU will be twice as expensive as SU and I've never been to the city. Is it worth it? Experiences?

Bump!Bump!Bump!

I assume you mean you’ve never been to Boston. Bottom line is that both cities are great places to go to school. The big difference is in the schools themselves. BU doesn’t really have a campus in the traditional sense. It’s kind of spread out. It’s a much bigger school, so your freshman classes might be very large–my D just toured SU and was told by the guide that he’d never been in a class larger than 26. Do you want have an intimate college experience or be part of an urban experience. BU has more name-recognition. Does one school have better majors for you? Seattle has more rain while Boston usually gets more snow.

Seattle University is a stellar and well respected Jesuit university in one of the most desirable places to live in the United States. Its an urban campus, but has a nice footprint with new buildings and Japanese gardens, located strategically on Capitol Hill, where you can literally “walk downtown”…by walking down the big hill with tremendous views of the waterfront and mountains. Seattle has a very good public transportation system.

BU is higher ranking and its in Boston…the quintessential college town.

I don’t recommend taking on huge debt for undergraduate studies, particularly if you plan on going to grad school, law school or med school.

Seattle and Boston do have similarities…both fairly liberal towns. Both waterfront towns. Both great places to attend college with plenty to do.

Seattle University is a strong regional school, known primarily out west, but well respected.

I thought about applying to Seattle University. I was very impressed by what I saw when I was in Seattle on a family vacation and through their brochures etc… I’m from Boston and honestly if you have to pay full price for BU, it is not worth it.

Have you considered Northeastern? Apparently they give out quite a bit of scholarships.

Boston U is definitely better because there are more connections there.
