So around 5 days ago I was emailed for another alumni interview (keep in mind there was nothing in the email that hinted that the alumni had known of my previous interview). I had already had an alumni interview a little over a month ago in early February.

From what I've read, a second alumni interview means either my initial interview was either terrible, and that Yale would like a second opinion, or that it was never submitted in the first place. I would like to think that neither are the case, as I felt my interview went very well and my interviewer did not seem to be the type to forget such a task.

My question is: has anyone had a second interview, and if so, was it different from the first? Is there a set of new questions that Yale wants answered from this particular interview late in the game? Should I actually prepare for this one in terms of what's to be asked?

I know someone this happened to. It’s possible that somewhere along the lines two interviewers were assigned to you. It’s also possible that Yale is on the fence about you and want one last opinion before making their decision (the kid in question didn’t get in to Yale, but got into Harvard. Go figure). In any case, email the alum about how this would be your second interview and see which of the two it is.

sine: you should email this person and inform them that you’d be happy to meet with him/her but you already had one alum interview already. It could be a case where you were assigned twice w/o this person knowing. If that’s not the case, then this one will tell you straight away – no need to guess.

The exact same thing happened to me. I was contacted by one women, and set up the interview. Then a few days before I was supposed to meet her, another women emailed me about an interview!
I was suprised, but upon a second look came to realize that the first women never actually identified herself as an alumni. I emailed the second and told her my situation. She said that there must have been an error and that she’d check with her superviser and that she would get back to me- she never did get back to me.
The first women turned out to be someone who actually worked at Yale. The interview went pretty well. I still can’t tell if it was an error or it meant something.

Well, just had the interview. A bit more questions regarding my school, but pretty much similar. At the end I informed of it being a second outing and my interviewer did not seem to be aware of it at all, so perhaps either a mistake or confirmation of the school? It is very, very small and recently established if that matters at all.
