If I dont apply for ED will american universities look at my second semester marks? I am a canadian student.
Generally, they don’t.
But, if your grades start slipping and you start getting C’s (<80%), then colleges might rescind your acceptance so make sure you still study during second semester of senior year.
Grade can be a factor though not always. You just need to make sure you don’t slip too off the ranks
The problem is I have most of my rigourous acadamic courses in second semester
Will ^^^^ that make a difference in my acceptance chances?
Probably not. It will mostly be based on what your record (GPA, Class Rank, Scores) are up through Junior year with some first semester senior grades as icing.
Anyone else?
There’s your answer right there. @Erin’s Dad is absolutely right.
So is it true that they dont look at second semester marks?
Generally they don’t look at second semester marks for admittance because they can’t count on getting them in time for the decision. They will take a look at them if you are admitted and if your grades have dropped substantially (as in all dropping to Cs or, at some schools, having even one D or F) then they will rescind your admittance. Some drop off is common and doesn’t matter, but a large drop off might. There are many threads on when schools rescind so you can find more out there, but the short answer is that it has to be a large drop off.
