Hi I am currently a senior in second semester and I’m wondering if the second semester grades matter much… is it enough that I can slack off and get like C’s or do I have to get A’s
Also I am applying to UC’s (Berkeley, Davis, Merced) and CSU’s (San Jose State University, CSU Long Beach, Calpoly SLO) as well as some Ivy League (Cornell) and private colleges (duke)
For the UC’s and CSU’s, your Senior grades will maintain your provisional admission. Each CSU may have different policies/tolerances on how much they will let you slide in your Senior year classes.
Rule of thumb: No D’s or F’s Senior year.
For the UC’s, all but UCLA/UCB required a 3.0 weighted GPA and no D’s or F’s.
For UCLA/UCB, a 3.0 Unweighted GPA, no more than 2 C’s and no D’s or F’s.
Ok to slack a little, but you still want to finish your final semester strong.
Thank you. Also, my target colleges are San Jose State University (electrical engineering), Cal Poly SLO (electrical engineering) and CSU Long Beach (registered nurse), so do these colleges check on mid-semester grade for second semester or the full second semester semester and will they really care what you get?
They will not check on your Senior grades until you enroll in one of these schools, but do not let your GPA take a huge dive due to Senioritis. All acceptances are provisional meaning they can determine if you keep your acceptance or not based on your final transcripts.
