The schools I have been accepted to are Smith, Bryn Mawr, Mount Holyoke, Baylor and University of Washington. My grades were not stellar by any means (I had a cumulative weighted GPA of 3.79 weighted, cumulative unweighted GPA of 3.49), however last semester of senior year I had a 4.4
I’m an athlete so I was injured in the beginning of this semester-- I had to miss a lot of school due to being handicapped in a wheelchair. Currently I have 3 C’s (in AP Statistics, AP English Literature and Anatomy), 1 B (Economics) and one A (AP Psychology). I can certainly bring these up before the school year ends, but if I were to graduate right now would I be at risk of getting rescinded from Smith or Bryn Mawr?
No you wouldn’t, but you need to bring those Cs back to Bs.
@MYOS1634 I can probably bring anatomy and AP English up definitely but most likely not AP stats. Would I be in danger if I didn’t?
Doubtful you would be at risk but only your college would know
What do you mean @Erin’s Dad? Can you please elaborate?
The general consensus is to avoid Ds and Fs, but many colleges also look for large drops in GPA as well.
@AnEpicIndian well my GPA drop is significant compared to last semester… which is why i’m incredibly concerned. One of my teachers has only published ONE assignment on schoolloop and the other one has given me two zeros for an assignment I turned in (hence the B). This is scary…
If the assignement was turned in, check with your teacher why you got zero. If you did a bit of it, you shouldn’t have had zero.
No Ds, no Fs as final term grades is the consensus. So, do your best.
Talk to your school’s guidance counselor. They sometimes know the colleges’ individual policies, or may be willing to contact the schools to find out if they are concerned. I agree with the posters above, too: talk to your teachers directly. Find out how you’re really doing in the classes and explain you are worried about being rescinded and what can you do to get your grades back up. Perhaps they will help you out - especially if the grade drop is due to an injury and you’ve otherwise been trying hard…
Just sitting back and doing nothing is the worst thing you can do. Be proactive, talk to teachers and GC, and work hard the rest of the year.
My teacher fixed it so now I have an A in econ, C in AP Stats and B in anatomy :). Still working to bring those up as high as possible!
