Second Time Transfer

Hi everyone!

I’m looking for some advice from anyone who has ever transferred twice or if anyone has any opinions. I started at UofSC but it was too large and too much of a party school for myself so I transferred to Suffolk University (Boston - tiny) and am now realizing that most people come here to boost GPA and transfer out after first year or so. The school only has like a 49% graduation rate. 7 out of the 10 close friends I have made here are transferring after this semester. My worry however is that I am a pre-law student and I don’t know how 2 transfers will look on a law application and I do not know where I would go if I could.

Some background on me:

3.55 highschool gpa
3.55 college GPA by the end of next semester (3.65 if I wait until spring however then I would have 71 credits) (obviously estimating based on courses I am taking - its really only math classes that bring my GPA down and I am done after this semester)
Involved on both campuses: UofSC: sorority and DECA, Suffolk: elected chairperson of Model UN & running for senate, will also be getting a job/internship next semester
Suffolk University business honors program
white/female
Currently Business Management and Govt (international relations) double major but would be willing to switch to gov/poli sci full time and down to a business minor.
Pre-Law
I am at the end of my freshman year right now and will end next semester with 55 credits.

George Washington University would be my ideal program but I am also looking at Northeastern University, Boston University, American, etc. – I am also open to suggestions for my situation/gpa range/major. I would really like a bit more school spirit and a little more of a social atmosphere while still being academically focused and would ideally like somewhere in the middle of the past two school sizes (somewhere between 30,000 and 3,000).

If anyone could offer any insight it would be much appreciated.

Thank you for your help!!

Moved to the Law School forum since the question really relates to how Law School will see this trajectory.

“I do not know where I would go if I could.”
“I am at the end of my freshman year right now and will end next semester with 55 credits.”

It looks like you transferred at the end of first semester, am I correct? That means you can easily stay through sophomore year before moving to a third college or university. Since you don’t know yet where you might be happier, there is nothing wrong with staying put. For the time being, focus on continuing to get good grades. Create solid relationships with the professors who would need to write your LORs for a potential transfer application, or for a law school application. Do a bit of LSAT review to see what you think about that exam. Meet with the Suffolk pre-law advisor and structure your sophomore through senior year plan with their advice.

Northeastern and BU are pretty large too.

Your reasons for transferring won’t look good to future employers; they don’t appear to relate to needs for better academics. Stay put. You transferred “down” from USC to Suffolk so the next transfer, if there is one, needs to be “up”.

True, but a mid-sized private is a much different feel than a large public. (Assuming U of South Carolina.)

OP: can you afford to be full pay at a private? (not much merit money for transfers.)

Agree with happymom: stick it out next year and get good grades, preferably A’s and lots of 'em. I disagree, however, of spending any time on the LSAT. Your time is much better spent on do the extra work to earn A’s, not only for potential transfer but also for law school apps.
