I just got my monthly bill and it shows that I owe 14,000 for tuition and housing. Last year I received considerable financial aid. Does this mean that I didn't get aid or has the aid not been determined yet?

the aid probably hasnt been determined…are you all clear on the finaid forms on JTF?

ya. I submitted all my forms and jtf says they’ve been received. I assume the aid wasn’t calculated yet

yeah i turned everything in but have a $23000 bill with no aid factored in yet

Yeah, my aid isn’t factored in yet, either. I called financial aid the other day and they said that my application is still being reviewed and I should find out what my package is soon.

^haha ok we’ll see about that. they’re sooo slow

This happens to me literally every semester. Some of my friends already received their packages, though it seems most of them have not. My parents flip out every time, too.

I e-mailed them, and apparently, you can pay the same amount that you paid last year at this time of the year. The rest you can pay later after you receive your fin.aid information.

Did most people get their fin aid package?

I literally JUST received my Financial Aid package yesterday. Be patient. However, none of my aid has been credited to my bursar account yet, so in that respect I still owe the total 19,000.

My advice to the OP, don’t worry about paying anything until you’re about to go up there. If your bill hasn’t been paid because of FinAid, its the FAO’s fault and you will not be charged late fees. Call them mid-August if you haven’t received your package and nothing has been credited to your account.

do you just check your fin aid package on jtf?

I received and email that says the following:

Dear Cornellian,

Your financial aid application for 09-10 has been reviewed and information is now available for you to view via the Student Services Center (jtf.cornell.edu). Starting this year, we will no longer be sending paper notifications for either initial aid letters or revision letters.

To access your aid information:
- choose the “View Financial Aid” link under Finances.
- click the 2010 aid year
- The Financial Aid Year 2009-2010 Award Summary screen will outline each of the components of your aid package.
- click Financial Aid Summary to view details of your budget and expected family contribution amounts.
- be sure to share the details of your financial aid with your parents!

Living Off Campus
If you are living off campus this year, you will still have an allowance for room and board in your aid budget. The difference is the charges do not appear on your bursar bill for housing expenses. If your financial aid credits exceed the charges on your bill, you will receive a refund and you can use that assist with off-campus expenses.

Summer Savings
If you are unable to meet your Summer Savings Expectation, you may qualify for additional federal loan to cover the amount, or you can submit the Summer Savings Expectation Adjustment Form. The deadline to submit the form is September 11, 2009.

Loans
Applications for student and parent federal loans, along with instructions on how to sign your master promissory notes, can be found on our website.

Appeals
If family financial circumstances have changed since you submitted your application for aid, you may appeal the the financial aid decision. Complete and submit the Appeal Application and send any supporting documentation to our office as soon as possible.

Endowed Scholarships
You may have had a named endowed scholarship last year that you don’t see this year as part of your aid package. Some of the reasons you may not see this award include:

the endowed awarding process continues throughout the summer and early fall
some donors specify that their scholarship is to be awarded on a one time basis
you may no longer meet the donor’s restrictions or preferences
another student who more closely matches the restrictions/preferences has been identified

This and other information can be found on our website: [Cornell university - Financial Aid](http://www.finaid.cornell.edu)

Sincerely,

So basically, I then checked my jtf.

I emailed the financial aid office a few days ago, and so far no response. I’m always one of the last people to get financial aid.
