My son just completed his freshman year in the WSE. He was almost a straight A student in high school (without studying hard), but his GPA for the Spring semester is very poor. We know that it is very competitive in JHU but nevertheless it is far more difficult than what we have anticipated. He has studied very hard, but still just earned C and C+'s for the Spring semester. Should he change his major? or give another try for the coming Fall semester before making a change? Or it is just normal for C & C+?
Thanks in advance.

I just finished my sophomore year, so I'm can't really give much advise. Your S should probably talk to his faculty advisor or with Steph, Janet or Dean Douglas in the advising office and see what they say.

Do you know what is the average GPA of a WSE freshman? or where I can find statistics?

I believe the Registrar's office puts out a publication. Unfortunately, if you live far from campus, it's not posted online. I do believe it has been in the B range, though.
