Seeking best attainable Socio-Cultural Anthropology undergraduate program

I'm a transfer student coming from a California Community College. I'm looking to get into the most highly respected undergraduate program I can, preferably at a UC, though I understand CSUs may be a better choice for me. I would prefer to stay on the West Coast, but am willing to go anywhere but the south to get my education.

Stats at Transfer:

GPA: 3.5
Extracirriculars: 2 years Student Government; Local and Regional Phi Theta Kappa officer; At-Large Senator, Student Senate for California Community Colleges; member, officer of multiple clubs.

Thank you,

Eric

Eric, you couldn’t go wrong with Berkeley. If you want eventually to go to grad school, or even if you don’t but you are a serious student, you will benefit from being at an institution that has fine graduate programs. Motivated undergraduates can learn a ton from graduate students, who are only a few years ahead of them, and from the programs that are typically aimed at grad students (an ambitious program of visiting scholars, for instance, is much more common at a university with a PhD program than at a LAC). And don’t write off the South if there’s an excellent program there. As an anthropologist, you should know enough to discount regional stereotypes.

^ Berkeley might be a reach for him, with a 3.5. But try anyway.
