Yesterday on the MySanDiego portal and to my surprise I received a notification in a box underneath my financial aid information which stated that I was selected to apply for the Honors program. Needless to say, I was excited. But today when I logged in, the box was gone. Has anyone else had an issue like this?

same thing happened to my daughter. Logged on today and it was gone.

omg - why didn’t you guys apply???

When I attempted to apply the link to the application wouldn’t load. I’m going to call USD today I suppose…

Yes, S logged in for the first time yesterday to look for the Honors Program section and application (as instructed in the letter) but didn’t see anything.

@tonycar - will you let us know what they tell you, please?

HISbeloved, I’m going to wait and see if I get a letter in the mail for the honors program to call.

tonycar, makes sense. thanks. will update if i hear/read anything.

hmmm I see it on my portal. Once accepted click on the “Become a Torero” tab and it should be there on the bottom left hand side under financial aid

rebel2k10 - yes, it seems to be up now, we didn’t see it yesterday?

the other item we’re waiting for is the update for federal aid. hopefully that will be available soon? as its a huge factor on deciding which college to accept.

the financial aid tab indicates that usd received the fafsa report, but is still processing financial aid stats. does anyone have their financial aid already processed and listed in their mySanDiego portal?

Yes, if you were early action and had FAFSA completed early.

Thanks DeepPockets. FAFSA was done in Feb. but wasn’t an Early Action.

I logged in today and this time the Honors Program “box” was on my portal again. Also, this time when I clicked on the link it correctly sent me to the application.

What doesn’t make sense to me is that so far I have received no notice of a merit award in my financial aid package. I thought if you were good enough for the Honors Program you would most likely receive some sort of merit aid?

tonycar…that doesn’t sound right. When you log onto mysandiego, there are two tabs to click on the top of the page: 1) welcome; 2) Become a Torero. The page opens on the Welcome tab so you need to click on the Become a Torero tab. You shoud find three boxes on the left…financial aid requirements, financial aid awards, and another honors box. Let me know if that works?

DeepPockets, that’s how it looks for me too. I have received a financial aid package, but there’s no merit award. As I said, I was under the impression that being selected to apply for the honors program usually comes with some sort of merit award.

I think that you are correct; the honors program would select from the the Presidential, Trustee, or Alcala merit scholarship recipients. Definitely think it warrants a call the FA office…nothing to lose.

@tonycar: I think I’m having the opposite problem. I can see the merit award, but not the financial aid package. Hoping that will be available soon, since that would help S decide which college to attend.

S received the acceptance letter on the 15th. The Financial Aid office indicated that it would take “between 10 -15 days after the official admit date (the date the Office of Admissions admitted you to USD). At that time, an email notification will be sent to you, providing a link and instructions for accessing your Financial Aid Award on line.”

So hopefully, we’ll get this information soon…

DeepPockets, you’re right. I’m going to call the financial aid office tomorrow.

HISbeloved, that’s strange. How can you see your merit award without being able to see financial aid? Is the merit award listed under financial aid but that’s all that’s there?

tonycar, yes, i know. that’s what i thought too? S received the trustee scholarship (that’s the merit award right?). but that’s all that was listed.

when we contacted the financial aid office about the financial aid package, they said it would take 10-15 days after they’ve received the fafsa and student has been admitted. we submitted the fafsa mid-february and received admit mid-march. so we’ll give it another week before contacting financial aid again.

HISbeloved, yes, that’s the merit award. Congratulations on the trustee award! I’ve been holding back on contacting them too, the last time I tried I was on hold for forever and eventually just gave up. They seem to be having a lot of technical problems. A few weeks ago when I first received the email which stated that my financial aid package was ready, I couldn’t see any of the financial aid award in my portal until they did some kind of fix for it.

how do you open your usd account?
i already got in, but i dont know my ID. was the ID supposed to be included in the admission packet?
