Selecting AP Classes for Junior Year

Hello all!

My name is Jordan and I am a rising high school junior from North Carolina looking to major in Pharmacy. So far, my course-load has been mainly Pre-IB courses, but I elected not to continue on with that due to differing conflicts. With that said, I have decided to enroll myself into some AP classes because I want to try to challenge myself as much as possible since my dream school, UNC-Chapel Hill, is very hard to get admitted to. Next year, I am planning to take AP English, AP Biology, and (maybe) AP History. I am enrolled in a class at a local college for Medical Terminology, and I am also taking Advanced Functions and Modeling as well. I haven’t taken a ton of fluff, but my school doesn’t offer a wide range of AP classes either so I’ve done the best with what I could.

Here is my list of classes I have taken up to this point, with my final grades:

Freshman Year:
-Civics & Economics Honors: 88 (B)
-PE/Health: 87 (B)
-English I Honors: 94 (A)
-French I Honors: 95 (A)
-French II Honors: 97 (A)
-Earth Science Honors: 91 (A)
-Math II Honors: 86 (B)
-World History Honors: 90 (A)
-GPA: 4.1 (Weighted)

Sophomore Year:
-Chemistry Honors: 92 (A)
-English III Honors: 93 (A)
-French III Honors: 93 (A)
-Tech, Eng. and Design: 98 (A)
-Biology Honors: 88 (B)
-French IV Honors: 90 (A)
-Leadership Development: 96 (A)
-Math III Honors: 86 (A)
-GPA: 4.2 (Weighted)

As far as extracurriculars, my resume is very brief. I have been in Key Club since I came to high school, and I am also a member of my school’s award winning marching band. Before I graduate, I am definitely looking to beef up this portion of my portfolio.

My main question is, what more could I do to make myself an enticing applicant? For any current students or alum of UNC, what kinds of things did you do/take in high school to get admitted? Thanks in advance!

Try to plan your courses so that you have a well rounded college prep base curriculum, plus additional academic electives of your interest:

Your courses sound great! I wouldn’t worry about those. Polish up your extracurriculars and make sure you’re doing things out of school that are meaningful to you. Your EC’s and essays are what will set you apart, so work on making them as individual and true to your interests as possible!
