selecting majors

I'm applying to the UCs, and I'm not sure what to put in as my major. Will entering undeclared hurt my application? And do they take in consideration your major when reviewing your application? Also, if i do put down a major, is the choice final?

I am kind of confused because people have told me that it is more difficult to get into Berkeley if you put down an engineering major, but when i went on a tour there, our guide told us that it doesn't matter what you write, and you can take any class.

ive been wondering about that too. not about UC but any college...

does anyone know?

Engineering has impacted majors, which means that demand is high and supply is low (more difficult to get in). Letters & Science doesn't take your major into account.

I've been wondering why people can't manage to read threads on the same topic that are less than a day old.

The search function is also handy. At least 20 threads on the topic show up.
