Selective Scholarships

I didn't get any response in the financial aid and scholarships forum so I'm posting it again here. The deadline for several selective scholarships (school specific) is coming up pretty fast.

The recommendation letters for the selective scholarship applications supposed to be different from the ones sent in with the application to the school. I am assuming that different people are reading for general admissions and for scholaships. My son was planning on sending in a different letter of rec from another teacher but the one he sent with his application is really well written and would go farther towards getting him a scholarship IMO.

Then follow the instructions and do what they tell you to do! Perhaps the scholarship committee has already read the admissions LOR, so that letter you prefer will be helpful. But if the instructions say “different”, then that means “different”. A less impressive letter (in your opinion ) will not automatically mean he won’t get the scholarship. Not following directions may well exclude him from even being considered as a candidate.
