Okay i need a little help with this. I remember reading that it's the law to register for the selective service if I'm above 18. I turned 18 recently. I also read somewhere (can't remember where) that I may be ineligible for federal grants and other financial aid if i haven't registered for the Selective Service. Is it true? any help with this process? especially from people who have entered college with financial aid when they were 18..

yes, you must register for selective service in order to receive federal aid.

If you are not registered, you can click the box when you are filing to fafsa to get registered.

A simple Google search is all you needed to do. [Selective Service System: Welcome](http://www.sss.gov)

You have to register it is the law. If you don’t you can get Federal financial aid, a gov’t job, gov’t training, etc. There is a $250,000 fine for not registering. You can register online at the address above.

okay alright. i fit in every criterion except the selective service thing. i’ll go sign up. thanks :)

you can just register on-line. It is a very simple process

In order to submit a FAFSA and be eligible for federal student aid, (I think only if you are male) you must register with the selective service.
