Self Reported Wrong Grade - Too Late?????

Ahaa… so long story short. I submitted my application to this university back in November and you had to self report your grades. My friend just got into this university today (conditionally) and must follow the terms and conditions. I read over them with her, and one of them said that after you send in your official transcript (sometimes in May is when I’ll get mine) and if your self-reported info does not match up with your transcript, then your admission will be denied.

SO. Im really worried that I accidentally gave myself an A for a class I actually had a B in which was completely on accident and Im not even 100% sure I did this, but this is the #1 school I want to go to. So If i get conditionally accepted and then they find out one of my grades don’t align, Im worried that I will get denied and will have to start college in the next semester since most universities’ deadlines are May 1st. (and I don’t send them my transcript till the middle of may)

I need guidance bc I definitely screwed up.

Thanks everyone.

You could ask your counselor for an unofficial copy of your most up-to-date transcript so that you can see if your actual grades align with your self-reported ones? Figure out if you did actually report wrong grades or not: gotta establish the facts first, right?

Wait…are you not able to see the self-reported grades that you submitted in November?
If you aren’t able to see your self-reported grades and you don’t remember what you reported…I can’t see if there’s anything you could possibly do right now. If you email colleges about your possible mistake, there could potentially not be a mistake at all…and you would give yourself away.

@Katyedfd Okay I just checked bc I had a copy of it whenever I applied (i printed it out bc it won’t save on the actual application site) and instead of giving myself a B for Fall and A for Spring, I gave myself an A for Fall and Spring…and this was FRESHMAN year… i hate myself lol
I can’t change it because their application changes deadline was Jan 1st. :frowning:
need help.

Just send a note to the admissions office at the school. They will use the actual transcript info for admissions. These things DO happen. They will not think you were cheating.

Application deadline changes do not apply to correcting false information. I do not know which college you are referring to, but those that use the self-reported grades method for applications typically state on their sites that if your self-reported grades vary from your final transcript that you send when you graduate from high school, the decision to admit will be reversed. And that can and has actually happened with colleges I am aware of (e.g., UCs and UIUC) which use a self-reported grades method for applications. If you immediately correct the error now via a letter or email, and provide a valid excuse, you stand a better chance of surviving than if you just wait for the college to learn the truth via the final transcript.
