I’m definitely reporting my 5 in Human Geo and 4 in Calc AB, but I also got a 3 on English Lang, and a 2 on Physics 1 and Environmental. I’ve been told to only report 4s and 5s, but my high school puts all the AP scores on our transcripts, so would it be bad if I don’t report them?
Also, if I don’t report Lang, wouldn’t the colleges think I failed it? I’d rather report a passing score of 3 if so. (Unless they just see it on my transcripts).
I’m applying to 4 or 5 of the UCs, as well as Cal Poly SLO, USC, and Cornell and I’m planning to major in Civil Engineering.
@vallgall the only way colleges see your AP scores is if you self report or they are officially sent from the college board. I don’t think I would self report 1’s or 2’s. That probably won’t benefit you. They really aren’t going to know what those scores are if you leave them out. They might make a deduction but it won’t be a concrete one. For most students, the AP scores only come into play after they are admitted and are attempting to get college credit for courses they took. My S had a range of AP scores and chose not to self report any. He was struggling with the same dilemma you are. He put that he was an AP scholar on the common app and that was it. After being admitted he submitted several AP classes and received credit for those classes.
You pointed out that your high school includes the AP scores on your transcript so colleges will see them anyway. I would self-report the all or self-report none and let them be covered in the transcript.
