Self Study AP during summer instead of summer program

Can I put on my college app for what i did over summer as self studying for APs? There are a few ap's i cant fit on my schedule so i figured i wuld do them over the summer since i didnt get into any prestigious writing programs.

…anyone have opinion on this…is it worthwhile/what will colleges think if i list self study AP as a summer activity

Its a long time from summer to the AP exams in May. Listing Self study for summer only makes sense if you take the exam.

I hope that you have something a bit snappier listed for summer; colleges like to admit interesting students - people you would want to know and invite to a party or do a project with. That sort of “interesting” just don’t sing out from a resume that just lists studied for a test a year away. I’ll bet that you can come up with something much more interesting to add.

Not all universities asks about what you did over the summer. Some may have that question on their supplementary app (the common app doesn’t ask about your summer at all), but many don’t. Even those who have their own apps often don’t specifically ask for your summer activity. If you meant listing studying AP in the summer as an EC, I’d suggest scratching that idea. That’s like saying your EC is doing bonus assignments for math class or studying for SAT.
If you’re asking what you should put if the college specifically asks about your summer, then just put what you did in the summer. If you self studied AP, went hiking and learned cooking, then just put that down. There’s no need to HIDE the fact that you self studied APs, nor are you required to only put down one activity. It’s not a trick question, anything you did over the summer constitutes as a “summer activity”.

Oh maaaan MY summer is screwed. I start my summer courses at the U tommorow.

Gonna be fun having my own dorm when I’m only 17 though!

Oh and at OP you could take online AP courses if its that important to you. It would look better than self studying as in it can give you a grade.
