Self-Study strictly from review books?

Has anyone ever received a 4 or higher on an AP exam just from strictly reading a review book, and not reading a single page from the textbook?

Just curious because i was considering one of the easier subjects(psych, ES, gov, etc) but kind of strapped for time considering its currently Feb.

My friend had done it and it was for AP Psychology. He used only PR and Barron’s. I believe you have enough time to self-study since he started studying it on March.

That’s what I am doing now…

Bio - Cliffs. Got a 5.

I had something of a background in biology (had just finished a course in human anatomy/physiology) but most of it was new to me.

So basically with the easier subjects I think it’s definitely possible. I’m doing it with Gov and probably psych this year.

I thought that was the only way to self-study… :D

So def

psych
government
ES
and bio?

what are the top review books for these subjects? I heard about smarty for ES, that’s about it.

For AP Government try AP US Government and Politics Crash Course.

Bio is absolutely and unequivocally Cliffs. Just gonna say it again.

I’m using PR for Gov, I just started so I have no idea but it’s what I heard is the best.

For psych, I’ve heard Barron’s is the best so that’s what I’ll use (anyone want to confirm this?)

Successfully self-studying exclusively from review books is entirely possible with the proper degree of motivation and individual initiative.
