How do you self-study?

Do you use only collegeboard questions just like the S.A.T or is it ok to study from prep book like cliffs for AP Biology? Also, please mention what you are taking and how you are studying for it.

yes study from the prep book, and a textbook.
i haven't started for this year,
but last year i did psych and i basically used barrons and a textbook..it worked..

It depends on the subject and your personal strengths. Last year, I self-studied for Human Geography and Comparative Government and got 5's on both simply because I used the best prep books. However, for something like (for example) Biology, preparation using only a review guide would be much more difficult. Do you know yet which tests you plan on taking?

Not to jump in or or take the conversation, but I also am attempting to self-study. I'm thinking of doing AP Environmental and I have Barron's review and am planning on getting a textbook. I've heart APES is pretty easy, but I still don't want to take it if I'm gonna bomb. I looked through the review and I remember a good amount from my Bio class last year and general news and reading I've done on my own. Would I stand a fair chance at getting a 4 or 5?

step 1: buy prep book
step 2: read prep book
step 3: take test

it really is that easy :)

xD! i admire the above.

I can't do that...I forget things sooo easily.

So... basically I

1) buy prep book
2) wait till last minute
3) attempt to read
4) fall asleep
5) wake up
6) read some more
7) repeat steps 3-6 approximately 100 times, meanwhile with frustration building up
8) take practice tests again, and answer FRQ provided in college board
9) sleep early before exam
10) hope for the best

i so agree with potentenum~!

i was planning on studying for the AP tests this winter break, but I've just been watching movies and falling asleep all week :P

hopefully the next two weeks are more productive

I'm also planning on just using the studyguide prep books...no textbooks...is that bad?

I'm using both Barron's and PR for most topics.

@Mariecc1- I plan on taking Biology, Psychology, and English Language and Composition for my AP's.
