Self-study vs online

I self-studied 2 AP's in my junior year because my school didn't offer any to juniors and received 5's on both of them. In senior year, how would you show the colleges that you are self-studying AP's? You will not have the scores in time.

Also, does it matter if you self-study or do online. I would love to do self-study since i can discipline myself better but some believe that taking it online via virtualvirginia might be better. One advantage to taking AP's online is the fact that they can be seen in your transcript, which I'm not even too sure about. But the downside is that i have to pay to take the class, I'm contemplating taking 3 AP's which means $2100 + books. Plus the effort that you must sacrifice in doing the virtual labs and homework is substantial.

I will be applying to the elites.

Any ideas on what I should do?

Well, APs aren’t weighed too heavily for admissions, tbh. You’ll have your scores in time to determine which classes to place out of once you have enrolled in a university. If you want, you can write that you are self-studying in the Additional Info section or under your Senior Year Course Load section.

Go with self-studying, not with the online. It won’t make a difference, so you might as well save the money.

but the ivies do suggest that one take “rigorous courses,” and the grades that i will return for the online courses will be shown on my transcript.

any other opinions?

bump please anyone? counselor is expecting a decision i want to hear the opinions of experienced people
