Self-Studying a Language as an EC?

<p>I am currently self-studying a language ~5 hours per week because it isn't offered at my school. Do you think it's wise to include it in in the EC section of the CommonApp (under "foreign language")?</p>

<p>Yes, you definitely should include it! It is an EC that shows your ability to work independently, your maturity etc.
I’m doing that too. I just wonder if we need (or can) to write something in that second box? Maybe the level of proficiency or how we use it? For example, if I translate from that language, do I indicate it there?</p>

<p>Go for it! It’d be best if you have some proof that you did that though, such as an SAT or AP test. But that’s not necessary.</p>
