I am self-studying AP chemistry with Zumdahl. I am currently just doing questions at the end of the textbook that says "Exercises" with the questions divided by the sections. I was wondering if that would be enough questions to get a 5 on the AP exam or if I need more practice. If I need more practice, where should I obtain those exercises?

Also, should I get the student solution guide or is that not effective?

I am self studying so I was wondering what I should do about the labs. How are other self-studying students making up for these labs?

Last, what chapters of the Zumdahl textbook does the new AP biology curriculum require?

Do you mean AP Chemistry curriculum?? Also, you should definitely do some of the more challenging problems, as they are goign to be more like the problems on the AP exam.

Hey! THanks for the message. Yes, it was my blunder. I meant AP Chemistry. What other challenging problems from the textbook would you recommend because it is generally known that the questions in the textbook are very challenging but I’m not really sure what questions the other CC people are talking about in the book?

OK, so I checked out what the 9th edition is like, and it looks fairly similar to the 7th edition, which is what I use. If you look at the question section, do you notice how it separates the questions by category (Ithink you said that those are what you have been doing)? Well look a little bit further in the exercises, until you come across additional exercises and challenge problems. Try doing some of those after you get the basics under your fingers. They will help a lot.

Just take a detailed look at the curriculum guide through Collegeboard, study the corresponding Zumdahl sections, and you should be fine. I self-studied a 5 last year with 7th edition Zumdahl (in the last month…).

And get a review book. For the record, I don’t recommend Barron’s, but it’s pretty darn exhaustive if you use it. I got like half the practice questions wrong… -.- PR was a lot simpler, but I felt like it skimped on a lot of stuff (I didn’t use it myself, I just saw a friend’s, who got a 4 btw).

then again, I took it under the old curriculum. I think the new one will change like bio to be less memory-based and more logic/lab/etc. based. (I love the new bio btw. ez 5 if you know common sense)
