Best Chemistry Textbook for new curriculum and self-study

Hey everyone,

I am partly self-studying for the AP Chemistry test this year. And by that i mean that i take "normal" Chemistry course with my school since they offer neither Honor nor AP, and i noticed that the course has still not covered quite a few topics that the College Board website lists as things that can be part of the test. I have started reading through Prep-Books but find that in a few topics i would like to at least have the option to read more about it.

My problem is that there are so many options with textbooks for chemistry.
Most people say that Zumdahl is best, but for one those books are expensive, and then there are many others that say -especially reviews on Amazon- that the Zumdahl chemistry books are not very good for AP test since they are both overpriced and cover too much.
But if Zumdahl is the best, which version would you all suggest?
I have read somewhere -i stupidly did not save the site that i read it on that Spencer's Chemistry: Structure and Dynamics the best textbook is for the new curriculum. Does anyone use that book? Is it worth getting? Or is everyone using Zumdahl?
I also read a few things that Brown is good? (Chemistry: The central science)
And that Chemistry: A molecular approach by Tro(?) is also better then Zumdahl for the new test?
I am just completely unsure right now and would love some options from others about some of those books and since most other discussion post on here are only about Zumdahl i would really love to hear about the other books or if everyone really uses Zumdahl.
