<p>I got a 4 by just taking it (no studying at all). Considering that only 5% of people get 5's on it, I don't think studying would have helped me that much. :p</p>
<p>As long as you're reasonably decent at reading/writing, you can get an easy 4. </p>
<p>Totally agree - this exam really tests how well you can write under pressure. IMO the multiple choice is much easier than SAT reading, and taking the class is just a waste of time.</p>
<p>Agree. Did the same, got a 5. I guess you could claim I studied because I looked over the format and types of questions for about an hour the day before. Did the same for AP Lit, same deal.</p>
<p>Oh, and to add; it’s not just me. About half of all juniors take the AP without taking the course (not offered at my school). I think a slight majority gets 5s and the rest are 4s. We do well because we teach English well at our school, not because people know how to prep for an exam.</p>
