Self-Studying AP Psychology?

Hello  Currently I am an 8th grader, but I decided that I’m going to self-study for a few AP exams. I’m going to take the exams my freshman year. The first two I’m doing are AP Music Theory and AP Psychology, since they seem fairly easy. I might also try to self study AP Human Geography. My high school does have AP Psychology, but it’s only available for Juniors and Seniors. I have planned out my 4 years of high school already, and AP Psychology just wouldn’t fit in my schedule, so I decided I’d self-study it.

I was curious as to which books were best for self-studying AP Psychology. I bought the Barron’s Psychology book online and it should be coming soon. I would prefer a 5 on the exam, but I guess a 4 would be exceptional… Is Barron’s enough to get me a 5? Should I also get the Princeton Review? Or should I try to get an actual textbook?

Another quick question I have is if I should self-study AP Human Geography or take it my Sophomore year. It is available for Freshman at my school, but I already turned in my course selection sheet and I decided not to take it because of advice from my older cousin who said it was the hardest class she’s ever taken. It says online it’s one of the easiest APs, so I’m starting to think she might have not tried hard enough, or if she just had a bad teacher. If I take AP Human Geo, what are some good books to self study with? :3

Thanks for reading this, and please give me all of your suggestions! :D

Hi, so I’m probably a little late on this but just in case you needed some further input:

I’m taking a AP Human Geography and AP Environmental Science combination class as a freshman and it’s pretty easy to handle both (I’ve heart APHG, APES, and AP Psych are among the easiest APs). Sophomores have told me the APHG test was a breeze. I think maybe your cousin had a bad teacher, or just doesn’t like the subject, but as a freshman I’m thinking APHG will be the easiest AP I’ll ever take. Don’t self-study it if you’re also taking a couple APs and self-studying another, because you’ve got a lot on your plate and it’s MUCH better to get a a good grade in your actual AP classes and getting a 5 on a couple AP tests than 3s on a lot (TRUST ME - this will make or break your chances for your college of choice).

Also, I’ve heard from various places that 5 Steps to a 5 is one of the best for APHG, but then again, if you’re self-studying I’d choose something more in-depth like Barron’s (which is practically as long as my text book except with bigger font).

@eshao98 I think I’m going to self-study it  Thanks!!! I’ll probably try getting both review books, since I really want to get a 5.
