Self-studying AP Spanish Lit?

If I'm good at Spanish and I take Spanish 5 (IB SL) next year, would it be realistic to self-study AP Spanish Lit?

have you done/understand AP Lang?

Lit is supposed to be a tough class, taken after Lang

I'm taking the equivalent to Lang next yr. If i know the texts well and pretty much have the grammar down through subjunctive and conditional, will i do okay? Since there's no such thing as a Lit review book should i buy a Lang book?

I am also planning to self-study Lit while taking IB Spanish HL. It is definetly not going to be easy! From experience I would go against buying an AP lang book if you are not taking that specific exam. The exams test different skills, and even the reading sections are different. whereas AP lang tests reading comprehension, Lit is more focused on themes, rhetorical devices, purpose, etc.

definitely buy the AP lang prep book.

if you score poorly on the AP lang practice tests; I would recommend not taking Lit and focusing on the AP lang test instead

(oh, and the college board has some practice questions on their website, you should try them)

I disagree with novalord. Don't buy the book unless you're taking the AP Lang test. And there's no point of you doing so because you're taking the IB equivalent. If you're really up to it, go for it. Just find the 50-something titles and know them cold. It's a plus that you're really set with grammar, but they do test themes and such more.

Vicky, FYI AP Spanish Lit = IB-HL. You'll get the same amount of credits at most schools for either course, but I doubt they'll give you creds for both.
