I was thinking about self-studying AP psychology but then i thought what are the benefits of self-study? Does it help for college admissions if you get a good grade? Thanks for the explanation!

I'm not sure about college admissions (though I think they would look highly on independent-learner skills) but I do think that it would help prepare for when you're in college. In college there is a lot more independent study and learning on your part whereas in an AP class you're still kinda being hand-held through the material.

Also, you don't have go through the hassle of an AP class and you might earn college credit if you do well on the AP exam!

I wouldn't do it unless you're going for an AP award or the credit. I was homeschooled and took 4 APs. It didn't affect my admissions process that much (of course, I didn't apply to very many schools, but yeah)... Not worth the hassle if you're not going for the award or credit.

It can also show the colleges that you're passionate about learning.
