I did the same thing because I was the only one self-studying 3 exams. I sat in a tiny little conference room with my guidance counselor for one whole day and then the next day for half a day (I took APHG, Micro, and Macro and then US as a class) and she wasn’t allowed to do anything else (CB rules) so she just sat there and watched me take the test. It was kind of nice though haha like after the test I would tell her about the subject I was taking (she had never even heard of APHG before!) and how I thought I did, it was was pretty cool and worked out pretty well I got 5s on all 4 of my exams…not bragging…well I am sorta because I was realllly excited haha congrats to everyone!!

^Haha I wonder if I’ll have to do that.

^i also was the only one to take hg at my school, i had to take in a guidance office, which was comfy =]

Just emailed my assistant principal, waiting for a response. This may open up some new opportunity.

@ collegebound - oooh I know the squishy swively comfy ones…pretty awesome

“^Puggly that is cool. So you were one kid sitting in a class with one proctor? Your school must be really small. Even my horrible school has APHG. What did you end up making on APES?”

Ya I was the only one in the room beside the proctor. It was a little awkward, I must say. And I scored a 5 on APES.

^and you were a sophomore last year?

Yes. 10char

I was the only one in my school who took APEH and Comp. Gov. My school is only a test center; APs aren’t part of our curriculum.

^Oh my God. You must live in the boonies…my school is only 1200 students and has like AP’s and a bunch of dual credits.

^ No not really. I’m an international and my school follows one of these exams:

-German Arbitur
-French Baccalaur

Oh…explains it. International school.

“Not saying which since it could identify me”
How is the type of exam you take going to identify you?

Hey I had a question about the AP exams. I am an international, and I took 4 of them. But my scores weren’t great. Do you think it’ll still be a good idea to send the scores to good colleges.
My school doesn’t offer AP classes( though some of the material may be simillar in Chem & Physics). I’m from India btw…
Calculus BC-3(3)
Chemistry-3
Physics C(Mech)-4
Eng Lang and composition-3

I’m a rising sophomore, self-studying AP Psychology this next year (both so I have an actual shot at being an AP Scholar by college application time and so I can actually contribute to Quiz Bowl this year). I know that AP Scholar isn’t a huge boost, but it can’t hurt, eh?

Will Barron’s prep book be adequate to receive a 5 in AP Psych? (I plan on making flash-cards and studying throughout the year.)

Also, is AP Comparative Government or AP Economics an easier self-study? I’m more interested in the former but both subjects appeal to me. However, I typically have to work much harder for A’s in math than in history.

Thanks!

@Xunun, the only one you should send is your Physics C score. The rest will not get you anything. And you will probably not fare well in the application process at an American top university if your school academics are like your AP scores.

@Miss, I have heard that Barron’s is more than adequate for Psych. I will be self studying as well. I believe that Psych should be easier than both economics and comparative government.

The sitting in a small guidance counselor’s office and the guidance counselor proctoring it only for me happened with Physics B at my school lol. We were originally going to use the regular conference room (much more roomy), but they were finishing up their AP Music Theory test in there and both me and the counselors wanted to get it over with so yeah. My school also proctored the AP US Gov test for me and another kid who had self-studied it.

I personally liked it more than doing it with like 20 other kids, primarily because testing went MUCH faster. I see this is a common occurrence on CC lol.

Oh how I hope my school is generous enough to proctor Psychology for me. I emailed the assistant principal of the sophomores, but probably won’t receive a response for a while since these are the holidays. Lol, the minute that I get a yes email I’m going out and buying the Barron’s book for psychology.

I don’t think your school has much of a choice. I think they have to proctor the exams if a student wants to take it. But I’m not 100% sure. If they say no, just call up CB, ask for schools around you that will proctor tests for students from other schools, call up those schools, and then schedule your testing at that particular school.

My school probably will I likely don’t have much to worry about. And my guidance counselor is insanely hot. Hopefully I won’t have to take the exam in her office, may really distract me.

When I took AP Micro (only person in my school taking it), I sat in my guidance counselors room. I thoroughly enjoyed it more than my other APs because she let me sit on her comfy couch, gave me snacks, and when I finished a section she would let me end early. Overall I think I was able to finish the exam 40 - 60 minutes early, which was great since it was my last AP.
