I'm new to the idea of self-studying for APs, but as i get into my junior year it's become an option id like to pursue. How long does one self-study for to do well in a class like. macro or micro economics?
This is for the people who've done it and succeeded.
and what prep book did you use?

I can help you with self-studying for stats - e-mail me if you're interested (cag51@pitt.edu). I also self-studied for Eng lang, stats, psych (got a 4), German, and macro (online classroom), and BC calc - only one I have a score for is psych.

I self studied AP US Government and Politics. I used an outdated Kaplan book and scored a 4, so it is pretty doable if you pick the right tests.

an old textbook (Foundations of Economics by Bard) and the PR prepbook.

Since I like to overprep and I wanted to count it as a senior class anyway(I was homeschooled), I decided to read the whole textbook (800 pages), work out all its practice problems, and do the prepbook besides. More than just an overnight skim the prepbook type deal.

Can't tell you how many hours it took... but I generally read 15 pages a day over a few months. in the end, it paid off. Got a 4 in micro and a 5 in macro.

dang that's a lot of work... good for you.. i know it sounds kinda sad for the sake of learning but im htinking of taking the extra ap (like macro or micro) independently so that i could have a chance a being a national ap scholar as a junior

i got a pair of 4's on the economics, self study...all i did was the week before the test, I read and highlighted important definitions in Barrons. Barrons was by far the most accurate prep book to the test, I can't remember specifically which of the brands had which issues, but one was wayyy too hard and not accurate to the test, while another was way too easy.

i actually self-studied ten exams this past year...lit and lang should be first on your list, they require nothing else than a good brain. then world, i got a 5 in that and i skipped half of barrons. then the economics. stat was really easy too...
