Hi guys, so next year is my junior year.... I'm gonna take 5 AP classes at the school next year(Java, Calc BC, APUSH, AP Chem, and AP Lit/lang and comp (don't remember which one...)) So I'm thinking of taking 1 or two extra classes by myself (I think I need some easy classes) so which ones do you recommend??

Human Geography is 90% common sense and world-knoledge.

Environmental is 50% other science overlap, 50% SmartyPants review book

Psychology = 5 by reading Barrons alone

I personally SS’ed Micro and Macro and found them a smidge more difficult than my other 6, however I taught myself both courses the night before the exam, so my experience might be a little different than your own. They are very dry however.

Comparative Gov would also seem to be easy.

I would say go ahead and self-study U.S. Gov’t and Politics since you will be taking U.S. history… depending on how in-depth your class goes you may end up knowing 60-70% of the test before doing any additional studying

I agree with the art history comment. It is difficult to sit and read about art, especially without good images or a strong art glossary, for hours upon hours without some added information or context. You would learn much more (even with a lackluster teacher) and find it much more enjoyable to actually listen to a lecture with slides.

I would definitely not recommend self-studying for AP Music Theory. There is a wonderful exercise book that my school uses in conjunction with an aural training guide that can practically teach you the course, but the problem is that you need a teacher to tell you how your compositions look. Plus, learning the part-writing rules is hard without an instructor. Don’t do it.
