Have you tried "signs" at Northwestern, DePaul or Roosevelt? I assume you've mentioned your desire to sell to your teacher and any bass players you can find. Word of mouth will save the $$$ to the middleman!!

Do you have a current appraisal for the bow? If we were talking violin bows, I know I'd insist that S see a current appraisal from a reputable shop before I'd encourage him to go far in looking at a purchase.

Depending on the value of the bow, various Chicago instrument dealers may (or may not) be interested in consignment. If they will take it, I wouldn't expect the bow to sell quickly (if at all) and they will take a hefty percentage cut. Dealers have much more incentive to sell their own "stock" rather than consignments.

Good luck! If you find a good solution, please post your experience!!!!

Cosmos, college/conservatory bulletin boards, youth symphonies are potential places. Put the word out with your peers... they may know someone (who's looking). Your luthier, or rehairer. You may be able to get a good shop to take it on consignment.

Bein & Fushi in the Fine Arts Building on S. Michigan Ave. This is who we've been using for the past 12 months. Excellent people. They do everything they can to help, treating you like family.
