Semi-Finalist List 2012!

I apologize if this has already been answered, but is today the last day that everyone is supposed to be notified? I’ve heard different things.

I’ve heard that tomorrow is.

Has anyone received an email saying he/she didn’t get the award?

Aeriss,
From what I’ve read on Twitter/what people claim reps said on the phone, they are trying to send all notifications by tomorrow. Let’s hope they wrap it up.

midatlmom,
It seems they haven’t sent any emails to non-semifinalists.

Anyone from Virginia heard anything?

Obviously they have a lot of rejection emails to send out. Sending them out 2 days before Christmas seems a bit like being the Grinch. There’s no reason they couldn’t get these out earlier.

Many scholarships, especially national ones, don’t send out “rejection” emails. Best Buy doesn’t, Ron Brown scholarship doesn’t, to name a few.

Coke seems to indicate that you will receive an email either way. Is that true?

“We’ll be sending emails to everyone to applied & we’ll also send semi-finalists a letter in the mail.”
https://twitter.com/#!/cokescholars

I think they won’t make their deadline of today, though. And if they do, as stated by moneybags, shame on them for sending out rejection letters two days before Christmas.

There probably is a good reason, we just do not know what it is. I believe earlier this month someone that called was told there was a computer problem,.
However, I do agree sending the rejection emails out today will dampen quite a few holiday spirits.

Oh then am I the only one that doesn’t care how close to christmas the results come out? I really just want to know already, I can handle it. So many mixed answers…no rejection letters have even been sent out apparently…and not all the winners have been notified yet. Not cool.

Haha, I agree with Krod28 - I’d rather hear sooner than later and it’s not the end of the world if I get a rejection letter before Christmas. I just don’t understand why they can’t notify everyone at the same time; it’s not the wait anymore but the way that things are being handled that is starting to get annoying. Just wanna know. :)

Krod…I hope you get your answer today. I am sure a number of people feel that it would be worse to wait until next week for an answer! Plus, if you do get in, the application is a killer from what I hear. So every extra day to work on or think about it is beneficial!

I feel for you guys who haven’t heard yet. ): That’s seriously stressful, I’m sure. Good luck, you should go fill out the Lowes scholarship or something while you wait?

I called the Coca Cola Scholars Foundation, and I was directed to a voicemail from their VP saying that we will receive our replies via email by the middle of next week (December 27-28)

Are you kidding Crashh11?

So, by that logic, it’ll probably be weeks before the rest of us hear from them…

If you read this whole thread, you’ll see that Coca Cola says something different every time someone calls them. I called & was told “by Thanksgiving” (!).

Hard for everyone to wait, but particularly hard to see the goalpost constantly being moved further into the distance, I suppose.

Yeah, definitely. It’s one thing when everyone’s waiting, but it’s frustrating to be told one deadline then being told to wait longer when some people have already started receiving notifications. I’m grateful to Coca-Cola for giving us a shot at such an awesome opportunity, but at the same time, some consistency would be preferable to false hope. The curiosity is just killing me!

I called an hour ago and stayed on the line to talk to a rep but was directed to some weird phone repair type of place.

Same thing happened here, batfan. Tried to get to a rep, but reached an automated message about switching phones?! After dealing with numerous scholarship organizations over the past year, I’m surprised by all the confusion surrounding notification dates, etc. I guess the already-mentioned computer problem is the culprit.

I’m just concerned because not one person has said here that they have gotten an email stating they are NOT a semi-finalist. Sounds to me like they are holding off on sending them to the end.
