I would have expected more semifinalist notifications post on CC too beachfam…so I am not convinced that all semifinalists have been notified either.

It could be that some people do not want to post that they didn’t make semi-finalist. Just like college results threads, rarely do people post if they are rejected.

@beachfam, haha, I’d wondered if I were the only one who got that message. I honestly thing they might just be messing with us now; the phone number was working fine just two days ago for me, and I kind of doubt there’s a computer glitch too. If that were the case, they could easily have posted an update on their website saying that “due to a computer glitch, we are taking longer than expected” or something. But oh well, all we can do is wait some more.

@CPUscintist3000, true, but I find it weird that not a single person has posted a rejection. I don’t think all semis have been notified yet either.

considering that there will be 2200 semi-finalists, and 83,000 people that don’t make semi-finalist, I think we would have heard from one or two that were rejected by now! LOL

I’m anticipating a rejection letter, to be honest! I’ll post on here after I get a notification, though. The way they are releasing the decisions is dumbfounding.

Has anyone heard from Texas?

bostonmom2,
My kid is from Texas and we have not heard anything.

I am also in Texas and I haven’t heard anything. But I am not that worried. Don’t fret. They will send them out.

You guys…I have a question…
When you guys submit your coca cola app…did you guys receive a notification email? Because I did not and I didn’t get a notification either…so now I’m wondering if I had even sent it…

bdsvip3,
I didn’t receive any email when I submitted my application, only for registration.

Same here. My daughter printed hers up then submitted the app. She did not receive an e-mail receipt (thought that was a bit odd–usually scholarships will send a thank you for submitting e-mail) We are from CO and still nothing this way.

If no more CCers are notified as semi finalists in the coming days, I sincerely doubt the efficacy of the Coca Cola Scholars selection process as well as the integrity of the evaluating committee. Based off the erratic responses they give to us, as well as their inability to measure up to their promised deadlines, I sincerely doubt any negative decision the program makes on CCers will be substantive at all. I understand this sounds arrogant, but if I am not selected as a semi finalist Ill be in slight disbelief since the entire selection process is purely objective and favors mindless plugging over subjective, meaningful factors. I’m at the point where the inefficiency of Coca Cola Scholars is intolerable.

I understand that everyone’s upset, but it doesn’t mean you’ve got to be rude to the people selected… :/

I agree. Although 83/84,000 emails is a TON to send out, it’s really irritating not knowing if we are a semi-finalist or not.
I am from Texas and I have not received any notification.

*Agree with decillion to an extent.
I’m not sure how Coca-Cola chooses semi-finalists. Does anyone know how? Is it merit-based or need-based? Or both?

It’s “merit” based… I mean, as merit-based as entirely self-reported resumes and transcripts evaluated through a computerized formula can get. They ask nothing of your financial situation.

Haha I gotchya.
I’m just so tired of checking my email every single hour and nothing being there.

Lol. Best Christmas evaaaaa

Frankly, decillion, i’m getting sick and tired of the arrogance that seeps into every one of your posts. If you’re upset at not being selected, here’s a suggestion - keep it to yourself. Voicing discontent with the process and casting doubt on the selected semifinalists are two separate things entirely. By implying that there is no legitimacy in the selection process you are also implying that those who were selected were not worthy of receiving it - that it was arbitrary, a stroke of luck at best, and semifinalists should feel no pride over it. Don’t you think you have been selected for things in the past that other people thought they deserved - and probably did as much as you. Guess what, buddy, everything from college admissions to scholarships to even getting a job is a crapshoot ultimately. The sooner you face that with even an ounce of grace, the better you’ll come off to other people.

Kthanx bro. Keep on flamin. It’s a nice color on you.

P.S. Kudos on finally registering for an account just to tell me than I’m being mean in my posts, as if I didn’t preface my comments by saying I acknowledge the arrogance in what I’m saying.
