I’m wondering if the Jan 18 deadline will be extended for those notified late?

I was wondering the same thing maryvmcculoch. I am assuming that they have not notified everyone that made semi-finalist yet…but that is just based on the limited number of people on CC that have reported being notified. I would have expected a higher # of students from this site than reported. I keep thinking that Coca-Cola will be publicizing the list of Semifinalists soon, but have not seen it yet. I think they are still on Christmas break.

I’m getting frustrated with the serious lack of communication. I was notified already, but I have a question about my personal recommendation. So I called, but I couldn’t get through. I got redirected to some disconnected phone service. Then I emailed them, and have received no reply in about a week. I don’t know what’s going on.

In a way it’s not fair if the deadline is extended, but it’s not fair if it’s not, either. They should’ve notified us all together.

I agree @maryv. I’m very surprised by the disorganization and passed deadlines involved in this particular scholarship process. Haven’t encountered anything like this in past experience. The “dead-end” phone call when calling Coca-cola Scholarship for more info is really bizarre. And they’ve been awarding these scholarships for many years? I wonder if every year its this disorganized?

Hopefully everyone will be notified very soon.

marvyv,

What question do you have about the personal rec? I’m just wondering because I’m a semi-finalist too and just am making sure I’m not missing anything.

Also, when you guys download the documents does it extend from one page to two? When I download mine they push the last line or two of each document onto a new page. I can’t figure out what to do to make it stop spilling onto a second page which I guess makes me a computer inept teenager.

nervousohio,

I just wanted to verify that my private music teacher would be an appropriate rec writer for me, as a lot of my volunteer service is musical. It just seems less typical…I’m sure most writers are youth group leaders or comm service supervisors.

And I’m not sure what you mean about spilling over…I guess I’m not having that problem. My biggest annoyance is that the font keeps changing and it looks bad if you delete something. I have to keep typing new drafts up.

I’m another east coaster who has yet to hear back from coca cola…
Like many of you, I’m a little frustrated with the organization. They run a fantastic scholarship, but they’re also completely disorganized. I won’t reiterate everyone else’s complaints about the missed deadlines, but I’ve experienced many of the same issues; I called for information, and couldn’t get a representative on the phone. I emailed them, and haven’t gotten a reply.

That being said…I just wanted to let you guys know that I do really appreciate all the updates and advice you’ve been posting. It’s kept me (mostly) sane and very informed. Thanks!

I called a few minutes ago and was told that all notifications - for both semi-finalists and those whose applications didn’t advance - have been sent out. There seems to have been a major glitch in the system because according to the person I spoke to, the only reason for any of us to not have received a message by now would be our spam filter, and I’ve certainly searched through my spam folder enough times to know that I haven’t received a message from Coca Cola since I applied!!

Anyway, the representative was really kind and offered to tell me my status over the phone, so I gave her my name and she confirmed that my application didn’t advance. I’m just happy to finally know . . . !

Thanks Sodade for the update. I believe that you are the first on CC to “officially” know that you did not advance. Would you mind posting the number you called to get the information?

Yes, I’ve checked my spam folder to find no such notification. So, according to the representative you talked to, everyone has received a notification (therefore, will have their additional information turned in on time). This isn’t good. They need to release a list of semi-finalists, perhaps RE-send the emails, and extend the deadline.

Though apparently, they don’t know that they screwed up.

Just had my son check his spam folder, nothing there. I have been waiting for them to release the names of semifinalists to check too. That would be helpful!

My son was able to sign in on this website, and his email address is correct, correct spelling so I have no idea why he would not have been notified.

My son has not heard either. We have checked spam several times and he just called Coke. He was told that NOT all the notifications had gone out. They are working on them now. They did not offer to tell him his status either.

thanks for the update laurielee1, same mixed messages Coke has been giving out for a month, I guess. I sent a tweet to them to see if I could get a written response. Will post if I get a response.

I finally got through on the phone (1800 306 2653) and was told that my application did not advance. The rep I spoke with said everyone should have been notified by now :/

Yes, the reps have contradicted each other in more than a few instances.

Also, I “favorited” your Tweet, vliens. ^__^

I called and was told that all notifications have been sent out. I didn’t advance; still glad to know though.

I called the same number that lorski posted and asked. Did not advance.

Hard to believe that such a well-regarded scholarship program can have this many glitches! I think it is time to just post the names of the semi-finalists. That would be easy enough, seems to me. My son has been checking his spam daily…nothing landed there.

Called.
