Senate Page Program 2020

Thank you @BL3001 !! I just got an interview! If my Senator isn’t one of the 30 most senior Senators is there any chance he could get a page?

@colorado89039 that’s great – good luck with the interview!! my Senator wasn’t one of the 30 most senior either, but he managed to get a spot on the Dem side (which only has 14 spots to give out). I think if they only have one page a year they usually have a higher chance of being awarded the spot. maybe it will be slightly less competitive given the corona situation, but who knows how that will play into all of this. good luck with everything!

I applied for the summer session through Chuck Schumer‘s office, and haven’t heard anything. Should I assume that means I haven’t gotten in, or just that their extremely busy with the Covid situation?

@BL3001 Thank you so much! I read somewhere that you go on field trips every month?

@colorado89039 yes! there are field trips a couple times a month to places like Gettysburg, Williamstown, Hershey Park, etc. they are a ton of fun and a great chance for all the kids to bond

@BL3001 thanks! I really appreciate you answering all our questions and it’s great hearing from someone who’s done the program before! :slight_smile:

Senator Perdue’s office emailed a couple days ago saying the summer sessions have been canceled…I’m not sure if other offices have let folks know or not

I applied through Senator Schumer and haven’t heard anything. Ahhh that stinks that its canceled. I’m not sure if this applies to anyone else, but I’m going to apply next summer as a rising senior. You can apply two years in a row for the summer session right?

Hi! I’m a rising sophomore and my biggest concern in regards to the Senate Page Program is academics. What was the academic atmosphere like and were the courses challenging? If you can, please tell me some of the courses you took and how the credits transferred to your transcript. Thanks in advance :slight_smile:

I found out a few weeks ago that my senator had chosen to sponsor me for the fall session (if they have it). Now we’re just waiting to hear if he gets one of the 30 spots. If anyone has any questions about my application process feel free to ask! Also, I didn’t have any prior connection to my senator before I applied, so to people that want to apply but are scared because they don’t have a personal connection, definitely go for it!

Has anyone else applied for the fall session?

(Also to all y’all who were supposed to be in one of the summer sessions, I’m so sorry they got cancelled) :frowning:

@BL3001 you said you found out only 3 weeks before the session started! Wow, that’s crazy. I applied for the fall session too, so I was wondering when you’re start and end dates were. Also, what was it like only having 3 weeks to prepare before you left?

I’m in the same boat as you @Arkansasteen13. I hope we get to go!! I’m a little bit sad because there are so many factors that have to happen to actually become a page. Hopefully the fall session happens!

@colorado89039 ikr!! The phrase, “So close, yet so far away” has never felt so real lol
Fingers crossed the session happens and we both get to go!

@Arkansasteen13
ahhh I keep reading about it and it just makes me want it more!! I’m actually so surprised i made it this far because I also didn’t have any connections with my senator.

@colorado89039
I’m pretty sure I’ve read almost every interview, story, and article there is on the internet just looking for more information! I’ve even searched for YouTube vids lol
Which Senator are you being sponsored by?

Senator Bennett. @Arkansasteen13 what about you?

Welll dang I started this thread a while back… I did not get accepted into the page program for the summer sessions but they were obviously cancelled anyway… so that doesn’t really matter much. If people were wondering you do get a rejection letter so at least you won’t be left hanging wondering if a letter is coming or not. The biggest letdown is that you don’t really know if your senator is awarded a page until they ask (at least in my case) so sometimes you are just unlucky and neither of your senators are awarded a page. Well if anyone does get in and gets to go I’d still love to hear your experiences and hope that you have the time of your freaking life!

@evajk406 @colorado89039 @Arkansasteen13 @BL3001 who did you apply through and get your letters of rec from? did you apply through more than one senator and what was your prior political experience? i don’t have any big connections so i am not sure of my chances. i also want to apply to several senators but i have heard that if you apply through multiple and get accepted by multiple, it can create problems and they won’t let you do the program at all. do you have any advice for me? i’m applying for spring 2021, thanks!

Who did you get a letter of rejection from? I applied and still haven’t heard anything, also I’m freaking out because I was supposed to go to school in Germany next year and now I really have no clue, but missed the deadline to apply for the fall session.

@un@ The fall program was already canceled. Im hopeful the spring session will still happen but I’m not sure if there will be a page program at all this year :frowning:
