Senate Page Program vs US Senate Youth Program?

Hey CC! I’m pretty new here, so let’s try this out.

I’m a rising sophomore in high school and I’m interested in a career in either science or public service. I’ve always been interested in politics, and when I heard about the senate page program I pretty much fell in love with the idea of spending a month in DC, and I’ve heard great things about it. I’m already shaping my resume to get accepted for next year’s summer session 2!

But then I heard about the USSYP, and it sounds amazing too! I love the idea of meeting other politically interested teens and getting to meet all those high up government officials. It sounds almost less competitive in a way? But I’m sad it’s not as long, it’s only a week. I’m currently leaning towards the Page program, but I’m not sure which one I should do, or should I do both? Could some alumni/people that have applied/just anyone give me some advice? Thanks!

I applied for the 2017 Fall Session of the US Senate Page Program, and I just received notice that I have been selected to serve. I would advise you to apply for the page program first because, in my opinion, it is more prestigious and rewarding. You are able to experience more over the duration of the page program than you would during USSYP.

@NicksonR Congrats on getting in!! I’m planning on doing 2018 Summer, I’d love to hear about your application/essays/etc if you’re willing to share
