I want to apply to the college of arts and sciences. My SAT score is good, but the first round I took it I got a 1670, I was unprepared. I know they superscore, but you have to send all the scores. The same situation happend to me with my subject tests (High Chem score, low USH score, same sitting). So I am hesitant to send any SAT stuff. I have no idea what they take into account, despite the score policy.

If I sent just one ACT score that is decent, and no subject tests, would it work for me? What would you recommend?

“A word about the College Board “Score Choice” for Regular Decision candidates: You are welcome to take advantage of the Score Choice option, but we strongly urge you to have completed all your required testing by the December 5th SAT test date, and that you have arranged for your results to be sent directly to Brown on or before our January 1st Regular Decision deadline. We would not be able to read your application until we receive a full set of official test scores, so it is to your advantage for us to have those test results in hand by the end of December. You may still submit scores from the January administration of the SAT, and they would be added to your file.”

My son just sent his ACT score, too. They don’t require SAT subject test scores with the ACT. If you’ve only taken the ACT once, though, why not give it another try – you might boost your score a few points.

Yea there’s a HUGE disparity there. Just send the ACT in. Your ACT is in the range (only slightly below 50th percentile, average is 31.5) but your SAT IIs and SATs are really low.

I think I will the 700 chem, I mean it’s not going to hurt me. A 700 is low percentile-wise, but it’s still good.

So, what should I do if I am going to apply to a school that wants you to send all scores? Just the ACT? I am relieved about picking and choosing subjects, though.

If the school requires you to send all scores, you have to send all scores. I only recall a couple of schools like that (Harvard, Georgetown). But many schools do not require you to submit any SAT scores if you are just submitting your ACT. They may ask for all ACT scores or all SAT scores (including subject tests). You may have to read the fine print on the admissions websites. If you submit the Chem SAT you may have to submit all your SATS for some schools that don’t have score choice.
