Hi, I’m applying to BC Early Action and the deadline is November 1st. I sent in my ACT scores today. I didn’t realize it took 2 weeks for the scores to get to the school. Will I be fine since I sent in the scores before the deadline?
Can somebody please help. I’m very worried.
Go on the school’s website. It should state when the cutoff date for testing (not the scores) is for early action.
I’m sending scores from the September test. I know the test date is valid. I just don’t know if my scores will be received on time.
I personally have not had ACT scores take longer than a week to get in. I thought the scores are sent electronically to schools and the 2 weeks is just a time frame they promise the school will have it reported into the system by.
Call the school and ask
So, my friend went through this yesterday. ACT scores sent Monday. She called ACT yesterday and they said they would not arrive at schools until 11/3. The school said that scores must arrive by 11/1 so the family was freaking out all day yesterday. The kid checked the portal last night and the scores have been received. So, yay! But, also, that was really annoying that ACT said that. Keep watching your portal. Check the school’s website to see if they state their official policy. If you call school, do it anonymously. Do not alert school that you are unorganized if you do not need to.
I’m freaking out myself today. I guess I didn’t realize that scores had to be in when the application is due, and I thought the October scores would be okay. So I sent September scores to 2 schools for my daughter today–EA deadlines are November 1. Both go electronically, so she should be okay? I hope?
ETA: Are SAT scores quicker? Should I send my daughter’s SATs? (Not as good as her ACTs, but would it make her application complete?)
My understanding is == If they go electronically they have already gone, and all that has to happen is that the school has to pick them up, which they do in batches (once a week, once every two weeks, etc.). You’re fine! They will probably pick up scores soon after Nov. 1 considering they are getting a huge lot of applications that day. October scores might or might not make it into her read, depending on if she’s first in the pile to be read vs. first (or last) in the pile to get her scores from the testing company. Don’t count on Oct. scores–it’s luck. Best/fastest bet is to have the school in the 4 free score choice allotment that had to be selected before noon today.
Thanks, redpoodles! That makes sense!
Another note…I have heard of many people very upset that they used the free score allotment. Bad scores get sent automatically. They wished they had seen the scores before sending them.
How/where do you check to see if the school has received the score? I heard that you have to contact them…
