Hi, has anyone recently sent ACT scores (not the free ones that you registered to go automatically) and if so can you please tell me how long it has actually taken. I paid to send April and June scores on 10/13. I did not pay the extra for rushing them but now I am worried that they won't make it by 11/1 Early Action deadline. Thanks!

First, for almost all early action/early decision schools, October scores (which won’t even be sent until end of month or even after) are accepted even though they arrive after Nov 1 and many of them even accept Nov scores. Exceptions are some public universities with early action – GTech which actually has an Oct 1 EA deadline date, Mich which says Oct scores might not arrive in time, and UIUC which says Oct SAT scores will arrive in time if it is designated as one of the free sends, but Oct ACT scores may not. In other words, unless you are applying to one of those three schools, it does not matter that the scores don’t arrive until after Nov 1.

If you ordered scores sent Oct 13, ACT likely “sent” them within three business days after that order. Sent means it placed the scores into the college’s on-line account with ACT. Receipt is then up to the college – when it bothers to go into that account and download scores, some do it weekly. some every other week. The final stage is then having that college match your score with your application so that it is shown as received in your on-line application file with the college, that can take days to weeks after receipt depending on college.

I understand all that BUT has anyone sent their ACT’s recently and can you tell me how long it actually took yours to show up as being received by the college?

I sent my sons ACT scores from June 2010 and September 2010 on October 13, 2010 to four schools. I just sent it regular too. I just checked one to see the date and it was received by the college the next day. I haven’t checked the others though.
