I was unaware of the March 1st IDOC deadline until recently, so I'm only sending in my IDOC stuff today. (I previously sent in FAFSA and CSS on time.)

Should I contact the financial aid departments at all the schools I'm applying to (UCs and several privates) to let them know what's going on, or is this not necessary? If so, should I email, or call?

We had to file several days after the March 1st IDOC deadline due to an extremely complex tax situation.

I called a school or two when it became clear that we would miss it, offering to send the forms directly to them in order to save a week, and they said "just get it into IDOC as soon as you can." One place said that since we had filed FAFSA and CSS on time, they had enough to go on. The other said that they just use the tax returns to check status after mutual acceptance.

I did take the precaution of sending a note to each school, just in case. At this point, I think I would send a brief email--again, just in case.

Is IDOC even used at all the schools? If you are going to be contacting them to let them know you are sending it, make sure you only send to the schools that use it! Your IDOC info tells you which school(s) requested it.

Six of my schools require it (not UCs).

Wow ... 6?! Just send emails to all 6, then.

just send it late- i did it and it worked out fine- all my 4 colleges recieved the stuff.
