Sending in recommendations before opening an application

<p>I'm applying from abroad and my teachers are mailing their recommendations. Is it ok if they mail recommendations even if I haven't started my application online yet? For example if I haven't done anything except put the college in the "My Colleges" list on common app and invited the teacher.</p>

<p>Some colleges want the applicants to submit payment and the supplement before submitting the common app. Should I pay and submit the supplement then before my teachers mail their recommendations?</p>

<p>Don’t submit your application till you know you’re ready.</p>

<p>The schools will “hold” your recs till you file your app - but you might contact the schools where you’ll be applying to be sure. They receive things in all different order. :)</p>
