Sending in supplement materials

Hey! I was wondering who else here will be sending in a portfolio or recording of music to schools that request it. Does anyone have any idea how to approach this? I am planning on sending in a portfolio of my photography as well as a recording of my ballet to each of the three schools I am applying to. Thanks!

That is a great idea and make sure you have a paper in the envelope that tells what you are sending just so they can be sure. Also boarding schools don’t like it when you just send in awards or certificates so if you are sending something in make sure you are doing it for a reason.

I plan to send in my art portfolio and a recording of me playing guitar (not sure, but either the solo for sweet child of mine or hotel california).

jasony what kind of art do you do?

I do all kinds of art. Recently, I painted a rubiks cube with acrylics and I also drew a self portrait.

That’s really cool, jasony! Are you planning on writing an artist statement along with your work? Will you send it through a portfolio?

Also, I was wondering how this affects myself as an applicant. I’m worried that my work is not good enough, and that will probably weaken my chances…

shutter, I’m not sure if I am going to write an artist statement and there’s a club in my school called Art Portfolio for kids who want to do art in their free time. The club’s focus is to make a portfolio of each kid and send it to highschools. To answer your question I’m no expert, but I think that if your artwork is good it will definitely effect your chances (in a good way). However, I don’t think sending an art portfolio that is “bad” will have a negative impact on your chances.

I will probably send in a highlight video of myself playing basketball.
