I am currently a junior and I will be taking the ACTs in April and SATs in May. I have talked to my counselor and she said since I will be taking the ACTs and SATs again next year, I should not send out the scores with the upcoming tests this year, but with the tests I am going to take next year. I am wondering if that is bad in any way. Also, if I score better on the tests that I choose not to send the scores for, but then choose to send the scores for the later tests, will that effect me in any way?

Why not wait and see what scores you get. If the ones you take now are better than the ones you take next year then send the May ones. You don’t have to request that they be sent when you take them, wait to see the results first. It may cost more but it gives you the flexibility.

Hey, maybe you will do great in May and not need to take them again. Nothing wrong with ''one and done"

Thanks a lot. I was thinking of doing that but the counselor kept saying to make sure to send the scores next year, and I got an email saying that I need to go on the ACT site and specify where I want them sent. Thanks again.

I think they prompt you to pick where to send them because lots of kids are taking them last minute and need them to get to the colleges in time for the deadline.

Also, I have no experience with ACT, only SAT. But, I can’t imagine that you can’t send ACT scores out after the fact.
