Sending Test Scores and Skirting the Expense?

I'm currently applying to quite a few colleges for undergrad and of course need to send my SAT and ACT scores to them. There's a section for reporting them on the Common App, but I know a lot of schools want to see them reported officially from the testing sites.

However, sending a score costs $11 per school and per test, which is an absurd amount of money in total. My question is, is there something I'm missing here? Do I not have to send each school my test scores individually? Do they get reported by my counselor, or do schools usually settle for what's on the Common App, etc.? Or do I really have to suck it up and pay $22 for each school to receive my scores?

Any help would be appreciated! Those deadlines are fast approaching...

For the SAT, all/any scores you chose are sent for 1 flat rate; that’s all SATs and Subject tests for all sittings.

For the ACT, they charge for each sitting sent; however, many schools have a policy that if you only want to send 1 date, you can.

While most schools require official Score Reports sent by the testing agency, some will accept unofficial scores on HS transcripts. Look on college websites or call the schools.

When you take a test, you are allowed 4 free Score Reports, but these are sent before you have the new results.

I believe you can get waivers for the Score Report fees.

Hm, when I went to send my SAT scores they charged me per school I was sending it to like the ACT does. I’m also only sending one set of test scores, not multiple, so maybe they’ve changed their policy?
I’m not eligible for a free waiver, I don’t think, but considering I’m applying to 12 schools, $264 is exorbitant; and I still have to pay the application fees!

Yes, they charge per school, there’s no way to get around that. Like I said it’s a flat rate, so it’s the same whether you send 1 or many tests.

Ah okay I suppose you answered my question without me fully understanding  It’s very late, please excuse me! I guess I’ll just have to suck it up and apologize to my parents later… Thank you!

Yes, it’s late, but do check to see if any of the schools you’re applying to will take unofficial test scores on your HS transcript.
