I just wondered whether I should send a brief thank-you note to admission officers after receiving their reply to my question regarding application.
Do people usually do that?

I sent once or twice but then I stopped.
Basically, it won’t affect you in any way. Even in the minutest possible way. It’s just a choice.
No harm in sending. No harm in not sending. They’ll just see it and go back to another mail.
They get hundreds of questions, and give hundreds of answers. I doubt a thank you makes much of a difference, especially at Cornell or Brown.
IMHO, you should get into the habit of sending a brief thank you to anyone who helps you. It is good practice.
Whether it matters or not is moot.
Send a note. It’s good manners.
