Senior AP tests

For the incoming seniors that will take AP tests their senior year, am I understanding right that the AP class weighted grade and the final AP test will not factor into college admissions?

The way I’ve understood it is like this:
Colleges you apply early to, or that have an early deadline, will sometimes not have enough time to look at the grades of your first semester of your senior year. This means you will probably even find out if you’re accepted before the first semester is over, or very early on in the second semester.

However, some colleges require an updated transcript and will in fact look at your first semester grades.

Additionally, all colleges will look at what classes you’re taking senior year, so don’t blow it off.

Finally, many (if not most) scholarships will look at your GPA up until your first semester of your senior year.

To sum it up, don’t blow off your senior year, and treat the first semester as you would any other semester. Your actual AP score won’t matter seeing as it doesn’t come out until July, by which time you’ll already be enrolled in a school. Your final grade in the class won’t matter either, but like I said, take the first semester seriously.

And don’t slack off the second semester. Schools that have accepted you will not hesitate to revoke your acceptance to the college if they see your grades drop drastically.

You most certainly can have your admission rescinded based on letting your grades slip, though it often has to be a very dramatic drop. As for senior AP scores, they are completely meaningless beside the fact that they could get you AP credit. I have a classmate who took 6 AP classes senior year (for a rigorous courseload, in the hopes of getting credit, and because he enjoyed them), but then didn’t end up taking a single test because the college he decided on had a maximum number of AP credits allowed and he’d already hit it.

The grades you get in May/June of senior year or AP tests taken at end of senior year are not used to determine admission for the obvious reason that admission decisions are generally made by the first week of April or earlier. Your end of the year grades could thereafter be used to rescind your admission if they are weak but your senior year AP test scores will be used only to determine if you are entitled to college credit once you show up.
