Are senior year grades calculated as part of the HS cumulative GPA? If so, then how? Are the first semester grades considered final year grades?
Most colleges want to see at least your first semester grades, and will ask for mid-year grades in late January. Early Decision colleges obviously can’t get your final grades, but they might ask for predicted ones. Almost every college will make an acceptance contingent upon successful completion. So, in short, there is no simple answer, other than to assume that your fall and early-winter grades will count most places. The UCs, for example, will base admission primarily on junior and sophomore grades, but they can rescind admission if senior grades fall below a predicted level. Some engineering programs will require a student to remain enrolled in Calculus, and maintain a certain grade, in order to avoid rescission. You can also be rescinded for dropping a major academic course your senior year, if it was included in your transcript or self-reported record.
Yes for end of senior year grades
Uh, the normal way
No but they are considered for cum GPA for admission. EOY grades really come into it only for people who slack off and don’t meet the expected GPA coming in.
@“Erin’s Dad” To clarify, when colleges look at the GPA in order to make an admissions decision, the first semester grades are included into the cumulative GPA?
^ Yes, unless you apply EA and the cutoff date is after your end of semester
Whatever grades that are available and on your transcript by the time they review your application will be considered.
