one question, does USC request your senior grades or are you expected to send them?

USC requests a midyear report from some applicants.

For the remaining applicants, it's optional.

so USC request transcripts from borderline applicants?

I imagine so. Perhaps also for applicants who are borderline for scholarships.

I was below borderline statistically, but I didn't get a request for a midyear report. Apparently they had already made their decision by then. I sent the Midyear report in anyway, and ended up being admitted.

sfgiants, was your gpa or sat below average and how low was it. I dont need a number, its just that my gpa is within the average but my sat scores are way down there. Its the only part of my application that puts my admission in jeopardy.

ok everyone just wanted to let you know that i just finished my calculus project, which means i'll probably get an A; therefore, if anyone is curious as to how high a ball will fly with x amount of force on mars, then come talk to me.

i'm so done with projects :(

errr

It was my GPA that was the culprit; only a 3.45 unweighted but at a very competitive school.

so if my GPA was already above their average (3.94 uw) will they ask me for a midyear report??

i may be on the edge because of my test scores, but if my GPA is already strong will they ask me for my senior grades?

It really is very unpredictable. Try searching through the archives of this forum for last years applicants. I remember quite a few threads discussing midyear reports.

Any discussion of who gets a midyear report request is speculation, as I am speculating now.

sfgiants, what were your SAT I and II scores to balance that GPA? And was your high school ranked top 100 in the nation?

I'm trying to see whether my high school categorizes as "extremely competitive"

thanks!

SAT I (one sitting) was 2130. Superscore was 2190.
SAT II's: 3 of them in the upper 600's

High school is ranked inside the top 30 public schools in the nation on Newsweeks list. That list is kinda flawed, but I'm not sure which national rankings you're referring to.

I also had sortof a hook that I was ranked top in the nation for a sport (somewhat obscure though)

shuffleboard? jai lai? curling?

darts? Pool? Ping pong? toe curls?

haha, one of you actually mentioned it. ;)
